Big 'thank you' from Write Stuff!

Aug. 17, 2010: The board of The Write Stuff for Kids Inc. offers a tremendous THANK YOU to all the volunteers and donors who helped us complete another distribution of school supplies to more than 450 students.

Without your generous support, we could not complete this important mission every summer of making sure every child has what they need on the first day of school.

The funds allowed our organization to purchase a computer and copier that has made our work much easier.

Thanks, ICCS, for your support!

'Stuff the Bus' collects supplies

July 20, 2010: The Write Stuff for Kids Inc. will host a “Stuff the Bus” school supply collection July 24 and 25 at the Clinton Wal-Mart store.

Volunteers will be outside Wal-Mart with a Clinton school bus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday to collect school supplies.

Write Stuff board member Kathleen Frick pointed out that “Stuff the Bus” is crucial to the campaign to make certain every child has what they need to start school.

“Everyone is aware of the economic situation families are facing. If people can add a little something extra to the school supply purchases they are making, we can cover what all children need,” said Frick.

The Write Stuff for Kids Inc. provides supplies to over 500 school children in the county.

This year’s distribution is set for Aug. 7 at St. John’s Church Parish Hall located at 502 N. Monroe St. Supplies will be handed out from 9 a.m. to noon.

Sign-up sheets for supplies may be filled out at Community Action, the DeWitt-Piatt Bi-county Health Department, and the DeWitt County Housing Authority.

The school supply group is in need of several high volume items: folders, markers, tissues and three-ring binders.

Collection boxes for supplies are located at several area churches.

Sign-up underway for school supplies

June 16, 2010: The Write Stuff for Kids Inc. is working to collect donations to help students who need held with school supplies.

“While summer has just begun, the new school year will be here before families know it. And for many families in our community, that means finding the items their children need before they walk into a new classroom,” said Kathleen Frick, treasurer for the non-profit organization.

Families may sign-up for school supplies at the DeWitt-Piatt Bi-County Health Department and Community Action offices in Clinton. The deadline for submitting applications is July 9.

The Write Stuff for Kids Inc. will be on the Clinton Square during Clinton’s 175th birthday celebration June 18 and 19. Volunteers will be selling desserts to benefit the summer school supply drive.

Donations of any size are appreciated and may be sent to The Write Stuff for Kids Inc., 203 S. Elizabeth St., Clinton, IL 61727. Items in high demand for students include single-color pocket folders, markers and spiral notebooks and may be donated by calling 935-9637.
